Ensuring the privacy and confidentiality of information of those who take an interest in Magnus (1) is important to us. As part of this obligation, Magnus is committed to ensuring the protection and correct use of your personal information (referred to as “personal data”). This privacy statement provides you with information on how we collect, use, share, and protect personal data.

  1. Collection and use of personal data

Magnus collects online personal data necessary to meet your demands as a visitor of the website, for event organization, website management and for marketing purposes.

1.1 Automatic collection of personal data

Magnus uses cookies, and may use web beacons and other techniques to automatically collect certain types of information when you make use of our website and possible other online services. Processing this data allows us to improve and personalize the operation, usability and effectiveness of these services. It also helps us to measure performance of our marketing activities.

1.1.1 IP Addresses

An IP address is a number assigned to your computer when you gain access to the Internet. It enables you(r) computer to communicate with other servers and computers.  IP addresses can be registered for IT security and diagnostic purposes. At an aggregated level, the information can be used to identify trends in website usage and to make performance analyses.

1.1.2 Cookies

A “cookie” is a small piece of text that is placed by a website within the browser of the device (desktop, mobile device etc.) you use to visit the website. The cookie enables the website to recognize your device and is used for different purposes. Despite the usual automatic acceptance of cookies by web browsers, you can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie or to reject cookies. We have listed the types of cookies that are used on our website.

1.1.2.1 Cookies for security and web browers

Our websites are built for standard web browsers. These have a built-in cookie functionality that helps with compatibility issues (e.g. to web browser type) and improve performance (e.g. faster loading of content). These cookies are removed are closing the web browser.

1.1.2.2. Cookies for analysis

We use different (external) cookies to analyze the use of our websites. This enables us to improve the quality and content of the websites. Collected information: number of unique visitors, search terms, location (country code) of visitor, date, duration and frequency of visit, used hardware, browser type, marketing campaign. These cookies are removed after 26 months.

We can use (external) social media widgets and/or buttons to allow visitors to share information from our websites via social media and e-mail. In this context, the interactions and activities of visitors to our website that use these services are recorded at an aggregated level (i.e. not at the individual level) (e.g. the number of times information is shared (social share count). We recommend consulting the privacy information of the relevant social media before using this functionality.

1.1.3 Event Organization

Our events are mostly organized exclusively for our clients and people with a personal professional relationship. In some cases we may organize events for a wider audience, and could use a registration form on the website. Such data is used to organize the event, to communicate about the organization of the event and could be used for marketing purposes at a later moment.

1.2. Web beacons

A web beacon is a small file on a webpage, newsletter, e-mail or other communication and is used to gather information about, for example, the extent to which e-mail is accessed, what content is viewed, etc. This information could be used to measure the interest of visitors and to improve our services and communication.

  1. Social media widgets and applications

Magnus makes use of social media widgets on some parts of its website. Clicking these widgets means you interact with third parties (the social media parties).

  1. Sharing and transfer of personal data

We do not share personal data with third parties except in case they are co-organizer of an event (this will be mentioned explicitly in the communication of the event) or in case this is a legal obligation and/or this results from a judiciary prescript. In some cases Magnus can share your personal data with external companies or service providers working on our behalf to be able to accept your requests.

Magnus may also store personal data in a country other than where you are located. Transfer of personal data by Magnus abroad takes place in accordance with Dutch privacy laws.
Magnus may process personal data in terms of sales or transfer of the services under which the personal data are processed. Magnus must disclose personal information on a legal base, a judiciary prescript or a governmental decision. Personal data may also be needed for privacy or security audits or to conduct an investigation in response to a complaint or a security threat. Magnus does not sell personal data to third parties. Also, Magnus will not disclose any personal information provided by you to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.

  1. Choices

You have several choices regarding the use of our online services. In general, you are not obliged to provide personal data. However, Magnus may ask you to provide certain personal information in order to provide you with the service you have requested, to provide you with (additional) information about our services and events organized by us. Certain online services can also ask for your permission for a particular use of your personal data, you can agree to or deny this application. If you choose for a specific service or communication, such as an e-newsletter, you will also be able to unsubscribe for this service or communication by following the instructions mentioned in the offered communication. If you decide to opt out of a service or communication, we will try to remove your information as soon as possible, but we may require additional information before we can process your request.

If you have made personal information available to Magnus, you are entitled to access that personal data in order to correct any inaccuracies. You can also submit a request to modify or delete information by contacting info@magnus.nl. We will put all reasonable efforts into meeting your request, as long as it complies with applicable laws and professional standards. If you have a complaint about the processing of your personal data by Magnus, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Authoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

  1. Data security and integrity

Magnus has security management and procedures to protect personal data from unauthorized loss, misuse, alteration, or destruction. However, despite the far-reaching efforts of Magnus, the integrity of the data cannot be absolutely guaranteed against all threats. To our best, access to your personal data will be strictly limited to those who are involved on behalf of Magnus in the provision of services to you and who are otherwise entitled to do so within the constraints of the privacy law. The individuals who have access to the personal data are obliged to maintain the confidentiality of such information. We also endeavor to ensure that your personal information is kept only for as long as necessary to provide services to you, as long as this is legally permitted or until you request removal of your personal data.

When we make changes to the Online Privacy Statement, we will revise the “last modified date”, which is listed at the top of this page.
